This dataset captures the bottomhole locations of discovery wells for each sand zone, with data spanning from 1947 to 2023.
This dataset contains spatially referenced gas and oil sand information compiled by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM). It represents the bottomhole locations of discovery wells for each sand zone across the U.S. Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) in the Gulf for the period 1947–2023. Data support BOEM’s Reserves Inventory Program, which assigns new producible leases to fields, establishes field limits, and performs reservoir and resource studies.
